How tiny we were on Santa’s knees. Yet I don’t remember a thing beyond what I was told. The inability to remember our lives before a certain age must be a sort of protection mechanism devised by our brains to forget the days when our safety was the realm of “others” and we were allowed little to no agency. No wonder kids throw tantrums.
Christopher Lee did a metal Christmas album a few years before his death. Metalheads tend to dig the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. And KoRn, Gwar etc have stuff, you can usually find playlists on YouTube.
Thanks! That is unexpected and cool about Christopher Lee. It's funny because the band in the video is Cave In and they're playing next week with Piebald who made a Christmas 7 inch years ago I guess - of course I found that out a couple days too late but that - along with your recommendations - are great for next year!
how beautiful! <3 the line about the eyes of winter vs. summer reindeer especially sparked my imagination. i love the idea of blended celebrations/understandings of xmas - it sounds like you and jim have made it into something wonderfully unique and fun to celebrate.
Thank you! Also, the reindeer eye thing is a truth of nature - and teh story behind it is pretty interesting. Think it was realized a decade or so ago but they keep making strides in ocular understanding.
