The cycle of grief tends to swirl down into gentle rocking waves by year 7-10. I posit it's because by then all your cells are replaced: they are echoing the movement rather than moving of the original force of trauma.

Beautiful and painful memories that echo a similar experience my husband and I share when we lost our friend Tim. The way you describe your friend made me immediately think of him. It’s the absence and the vacuum that stings the most.

A wonderful birthday gift for me, thank you, and hopefully a welcome day of respite for you and your healing heart.

They are still with us, and sometimes, at just the right moment between sleep and wake, they speak to our souls. For just that timeless instant, we revel in the awareness that they never left us, struggling to make it last forever, until our waking minds rob us of that sweet ignorance and the world becomes all to real again.
