As this is the end of the Labor Day weekend, it seems what we think of as cultural summer has also come to an end. At the end of every season, I wonder how I’ve spent it, and so instead of thumbing through my periodic journal, I figuratively flip through the images on my phone. So see below for a photo journey from June 1st to September 1st.
Much time was spent in the garden, and I obsessively photographed most of it. Come to our patio on the edge of night and scent your flesh with the smell of moonlight
I watched my friends' pets, both for care and sport. Gary, Millie, Dewey, and Lacie.
There was car working, car learning, car sharing, and car driving. Jim worked on his '86 Jetta and we helped our neighbor with his VW bus.
We grew vegetables. Tomatoes. Jalapenos. And our indoor avocado. Jim trestled and harvested and made salsa. I simply walked by and plucked with capricious greed while popping fresh produce into my mouth.
I cannot forget that summer was spent among friends, from old to new and morning to night.
Spent time with family. Dad and Maureen. Dave and his pies. Mom and her farm. Tom and his cake. Me and Jim. Jim and Me.
Took photos of Megan, Elisabeth, and random women - three of my favorite subjects to photograph
Went to the zoo with Doug and Elisabeth and watched Doug shake his thang in a parade - Doug loves Zoos and Parades and I love being a kid with Doug
Got my sixth tattoo. This time, from Alanda, as in Panda. She was amazing.
Megan and I sang on Doug's album and started working on his Kickstarter
We had so many "extreme weather events" that we cooked and entertained and took selfies by candlelight. We collected more hailstones than we'd like. And Jim was constantly moving my Elliot windchime from patio to garage to protect it from the elements. It was given to me by my dear dear friends in honor of their lost baby who i loved so much.
The miscellany of summer included seeing how crosswalks are installed, going to safety meetings, being gifted Bruins pucks by Caleb, talking under a rainbow with Jess, counting calories, volunteering in the swelter, peeling my ankles, sitting in my secret garden spot, and taking erotic videos of bees
Good job on your story, Trilety. And good for you, all the things you did, experienced, enjoyed, loved, during the summer. I got some things done, too, but it seems I don't take pics. A before and after of the kitchen would have been nice, but alas it's too late; only the after now.
Very fun photo of the first dog, who seems to be howling :) I love dogs, and have three, which reminds me that I *do* take pics of them...:)
